Available Forms
Ultra-high-strength steel for safety- and weight-critical structural parts. Used in aerospace frames, armor, fasteners, landing gear and high-performance automotive components.
Uses
Quenched and tempered, or precipitation/ausforming treated to ultra-high strength; for maraging grades, solution at 815–900 °C then age 480–500 °C.
Heat Treatment
High sensitivity to stress corrosion and hydrogen embrittlement — control plating/baking and avoid notches. Proof-load and inspect critically stressed parts.
