S-816

Superalloy

SAE J467b special-purpose alloys: a 1956 listing of proprietary/registered nickel-, cobalt- and iron-base alloys for high-temperature and special service. Many are cobalt/nickel-base superalloys; per-grade chemistry for the proprietary M-/N-/G-/V- designations is limited in the open literature. S-816 is a well-documented special-purpose superalloy.

Chemical Composition (%)

CO-BASE0.36

Mechanical Properties

High-temperature alloy; typical Tensile 700-1400 MPa, Yield 400-1100 MPa at room temp; retains strength to 650-870 C (grade/heat-treat dependent)

Chinese Standard

SAE J467b-1956

Applications

Gas turbines, jet engines, heat-resisting and special-service components

Available Forms

Bar, wire, sheet, strip, forgings, castings

Uses

Gas turbine, jet engine, high-temp and corrosion-resistant components

Heat Treatment

Solution treat + age (precipitation hardening) for superalloys; anneal for the softer grades
