Uses
Tin-base alloy for soldering, bearings and corrosion-resistant coatings. Used in electronics soldering, babbitt bearings and pewter.
Heat Treatment
Solder alloys are used as-cast or reflowed; bearing/babbitt alloys poured onto a shell. No conventional quench/temper cycle.
Precautions
Low melting point — avoid overheating during soldering; ensure clean surfaces for good wetting.
